HOME >> Tips for using your eyeglasses for a long time

We are often asked by those who wear eyeglasses for the first time what to do when their eyeglasses are tainted and usually recommend rinsing them with water (while using a neutral detergent when the tainting is particularly bad), removing moisture with tissues, and finally wiping them gently with lens wipers,To be specific, the strength used when gently wiping them is about the same as when holding a sandwich.

If there are small particles of dust on your lenses, please gently wipe them with a lens wiper after adding moisture such as by gently blowing on them.
Dry-wiping leads to scratches on your lenses so wiping them with something other than a lens wiper such as a piece of cloth or a towel can scratch your lenses.
It is recommended that you wash and change your lens wipers every day because they gather dirt and dust even after just one day of use.
Also, please do not forget that leaving lenses tainted or wet can lead to blemishes or water marks (this is the same with rainwater and tap water).

We are also sometimes told by customers that they suddenly discover web like lines all over their spectacle lenses. This is thought to be caused by heat.
Please note that plastic lenses are not resistant to heat.
The base materials of plastic lenses are coated multiple times.
The base materials of plastic lenses expand when temperatures rise (60°C or more).
However, those that are treated with antireflection coating, which is applied on the surface, are similar to metal and do not expand as much as plastic lenses do.
When base materials expand, they form cracks like those in the ground because the coating cannot keep up with the expansions.
They appear when affected in this manner regardless of how long the lenses have been used.
They are extremely thin and difficult to spot at first, but many customers first discover that something is wrong at times such as at night when they are exposed to headlights.

However, many believe that exposure to such heat is not likely in daily life or that any exposure would be that which should be expected, but these are misconceptions.
Hot air from sources such as driers and fan heaters, radiant heat from barbeque grills and charcoal fire, stoves, and bonfires, midsummer beaches and sun houses, and inside automobiles that are parked for long periods of time under temperatures of 25°C or more can all reach or exceed 60°C.
Please also avoid sudden changes in temperature.
This is a problematic situation that is difficult to identify because it is easy to forget unless you are frequently worried about the effects of heat.

OSC (organic shield coating) eliminates this vulnerability to heat and makes elasticity even all throughout the lenses.
They are durable plastic lenses that are resistant to heat.

Finally, we are also sometimes told by customers that the coating peels off on dotted areas of the surfaces of the lenses. This is thought to be caused by substances such as chemical products.
For example, many of us take precautions such as by using eyeglasses and surgical masks when using mold spray, but contact with mold spray can cause eroding the surfaces of our lenses in a short period of time, which leads to problems such as blemishes and peeling.
This is the same for chemical products such as alkaline or acid detergents as well as haircare products if they are ignored even if their levels of penetrability are different.
Please remember to immediately wipe off any chemical products, sprays of haircare products, or any such liquids after rinsing with water.

Lenses cannot be repaired.
You can comfortably use your eyeglasses for a long time by always keeping the above in mind and not waiting to take measures after it is too late.
