Protecting the eyes from sunburn is necessary for current as well as future healthy viewing

Over eighty percent of the information we gather on the outside world is with our eyes. It is important to protect the eyes from ultraviolet radiation and glare (visible radiation) to maintain healthy vision both for now and the future.

Exposure of the eyes to ultraviolet radiation for long periods of time causes ultraviolet keratitis (sunburn of the eyes) and increases the risk of eye disorders such as pterygium and cataract.Ultraviolet radiation cannot be seen with the human eye. However, the damage caused by it is accumulated for life.Even if there are no particular symptoms, it becomes difficult to maintain healthy vision unless sufficient measures against ultraviolet radiation are taken. The eyes need protection from sunburn as the skin does.

The eyes also become tired even from constant squinting due to glare. It can also cause decreased vision in the future. There must be light in order to see things, but too little or too much light is also bad for the eyes.Moderate amounts of light leads to healthy vision.

Instantaneously catching sunlight under various circumstances

Transitions Signature provides clear vision indoors and is highly sensitive to ultraviolet keratitis outdoors.

It provides clear vision indoors and lets the right amount of light enter when outdoors.

The color changes according to sunlight
Transitions Signature

It protects the eyes from ultraviolet radiation and visible radiation (glare) to maintain healthy vision every day.

  • Quality of vision (contrast sensitivity) is increased because light that enters the eyes is automatically accommodated.
  • Almost all harmful ultraviolet radiation is automatically cut out. Fatigue and stress in the eyes are also reduced because glare is decreased.
  • In addition to prescription lenses, it is also compatible with various frames of spectacle lenses.
  • Two colors are available in brown and gray.
  • Density may change depending on differences in temperature, weather, and amounts of ultraviolet radiation.
  • It takes time for the colors to change from dark to light. It is extremely dangerous when entering dark places such as tunnels or indoor parking areas when the density is high because vision is decreased due to insufficient light.
  • Please pay careful attention during use when operating vehicles without roofs such as convertibles, motorcycles, and snowmobiles or when participating in outdoor sports such as skiing and snowboarding.

Transitions XtraActive: The color changes according to sunlight.
It protects the eyes from ultraviolet radiation and visible radiation (glare) to maintain healthy eyesight every day.

Transitions XtraActive can be used in the same way as regular spectacle lenses both indoors and outdoors.

  • Quality of vision (contrast sensitivity) is increased because light that enters the eyes is automatically adjusted.
  • Almost all harmful ultraviolet radiation is automatically cut out. Fatigue and stress in the eyes are also reduced because glare is decreased.
  • It also reacts to visible radiation (glare) during activities such as driving and responds by changing to moderate lens colors.
  • Lens color: Gray

Transitions XtraActive is different from conventional photochromic lenses that react to ultraviolet radiation as they become colored also in reaction to visible radiation.Coloring with moderate colors can now be done even when looking through car windshields that provide ultraviolet protection.

Although many people are aware of the dangers of their skin being exposed to ultraviolet radiation, they do not know much about the damage that ultraviolet radiation causes to the eyes. That is why it is important to promote an understanding of how sunlight can have harmful effects on the eyes.Transitions XtraActive helps protect the eyes from ultraviolet radiation and glare, which are harmful to vision.Transitions XtraActive blocks nearly 100% of all harmful ultraviolet radiation (UVA/UVB) and provides UV400 when either clear or colored.

Transitions? Extra Active is optimal for those who drive in the daytime, those who spend many hours a day outdoors, and those who are active indoors and outdoors.

Precautions for use

  • Damage such as scratches on the outer surface of the lens and abrasions in the coating causes the loss of photochromic functions.
  • Photochromic lenses gradually deteriorate with age, lose density, or change in color tones due to factors such as ultraviolet radiation. Please handle with care as scratches on the lens surface may accelerate deterioration.
  • It takes time for the colors to change from dark to light. It is dangerous to drive in dark places such as inside tunnels and indoor parking areas or to drive at dusk as the colors do not become light suddenly and vision is decreased under such circumstances. Please do not use the product in such dark places or periods of time.
  • Photochromic lenses do not become darker when shutting out ultraviolet radiation with umbrellas and hats, or inside cars surrounded by ultraviolet cut glass.
  • Photochromic lenses are lenses that produce color when exposed to ultraviolet radiation. They are highly temperature-dependent and thus show more photochromic reactions as temperatures decrease.
  • The color of photochromic lenses is influenced by factors such as the strength of ultraviolet radiation and temperatures. The production of colors is accelerated when there is exposure to strong ultraviolet radiation and the production of colors is suppressed as temperatures increase. The combined use of separate sunglasses in order to prevent glare is recommended in the summer, when ultraviolet radiation is strong but temperatures are high, because the lenses do not become so dark under such conditions.
  • Progressive-power lenses have parts that sense movement and distortions at the lateral portions. Attention is required for the conditions in which they are used such as walking up and down stairs, driving, and playing sports.
  • Do not look at strong sources of light such as the sun. Doing so may cause severe damage to the eyes or even blindness.
  • They are plastic lenses, but please note that they can break on strong impact.
